The verdict is in from two of Michigan’s most respected publications, and The Detroit News and Observer & Eccentric newspapers agree:
Paul Welday is the best choice for the Republican nomination for Congress in Michigan’s Ninth District.
In their endorsement of Welday, Michigan’s leading conservative voice, The Detroit News, said:
“…Paul Welday is the preferred choice. Welday spent years as the top aide to former Rep. Joe Knollenberg, whom Peters defeated, and is well schooled in both the needs of his district and the workings of Congress.”
The Observer & Eccentric said:
“… We think Paul Welday has an edge over Raczkowski in the 9th District race because of his specific experience working in Washington for a decade, in former U.S. Rep. Joe Knollenberg's office, as well as other life experiences. Welday served as chief of staff and handled many relationship-building duties, technical bill drafting, building consensus and the like.
Welday is a small business owner who knows what it's like to meet payroll and tackle the tough issues in a bad economy. In his personal life, he's not immune to the economic pitfalls we all face today — he and his wife are currently stuck with two homes, following their marriage, a situation that can only improve when the economy improves.
Politically, he has worked a lot behind the scenes. He's made friends and foes along the way, but is ready to put himself out there as the candidate. He knows what the job entails and shows confidence that he's up for the challenge. He presents specific plans on the big issues of jobs, the national budget and revisions to the national health care program, among others.
We think Welday, who is appealing to the conservative Republican, could give the incumbent in the 9th Congressional District a run.”
Paul Welday is the one Republican candidate who has offered a solid plan of action to help solve the major issues confronting America and has earned the support of thousands of Oakland County voters. His background and experience make him the right choice for Ninth District Republicans and we appreciate the confidence placed in our campaign by these two major newspapers.
But the one endorsement that really counts is yours! Please join us in supporting Paul Welday for Congress on Tuesday, August 3rd.
